As a volunteer-powered non-profit organization, Yappy Tails Animal Rescue would not exist without the hard work and dedication of our volunteers. The number of dogs and cats we can save depends on the number of people we have helping us. There are many ways you can volunteer with Yappy Tails.
Foster Care: We are always in need of foster care providers! Through foster care, we are able to house more adoptable animals and save more lives. Fostering an animal is a wonderful way to experience the joy of owning a pet for those who are unable to make a permanent commitment to an animal. Apply here to foster with us!!
Home Visit Volunteer: Every potential adopter must pass a Home Visit before an adoption. This helps us ensure the animal is the right fit for the new family, as well as ensuring that our rescue animals are being placed into the best environment possible for their individual needs. Home visits are a quick and easy task, but are one of the most important things we do as a rescue.
Adoption & Foster Screener: Assist in pre-approving adopters and fosters by reviewing applications, contacting landlord/vet offices, conducting phone screens and setting up home visits. Not required to attend adoption event.
Transporter: Volunteer animal transporters bring animals to/from vet appointments, home visits, adoption events on the weekends, special events that we have coming up, transports to their new foster home, etc.
Photographers: Animal Adoption Photographers maintain the online list of animals available for adoption by uploading digital photos taken of the animals at YTAR. Volunteers must have good computer skills and a working knowledge of digital photography. Duties include: taking photos of the animals for adoption, cropping and adjusting pictures for optimal viewing, uploading photos to the website according to YTAR policies and procedures; uploading information from home.
Groomers: We are looking for groomers who would volunteer their services with grooming some of our foster dogs when they first come in from the shelter setting. Some of these dogs need some professional expertise and we would love to have help from some professional groomers around the area, so we can show everyone what beauties these dogs really are!
Fundraising and Events: As a non-profit organization, we run solely on donations and fundraising efforts. Depending on the type of event, volunteers can be asked to perform a variety of task. Being a fundraising and events volunteer is a great way to get involved without committing to a set weekly schedule.
Community Outreach Volunteer: Outreach volunteers represent YTAR at community events. Events include adoption outreach events, booths at fairs, and our annual events.
Weekend Adoption Volunteer: Volunteer at Adoption Events – weekend events that involve dog walking, feeding, application processing, usually in busy pet stores, farmers markets, etc.
Fundraise Independently: We are always looking for new and innovative ways to raise money to help our dogs. We value your opinions and fundraising methods no matter how small.
